In March of 2009 The Now Device partnered with the West Michigan Symphony to produce a show in Muskegon’s beautiful and historic Frauenthal theater. Each performance was introduced by President and CEO Carla Hill and conducted by Musical Director Scott Speck.
The show was developed and customized beginning in the fall of 2008, and involved shooting video and photography at more than a dozen local facilities. Working with the artistic and administrative staff of the symphony, the TND team created a celebration featuring local workers welding, pouring, stamping and assembling everything from high-tech wind turbines to enormous steel boilers. A glimpse into several local technical educational institutes added a new dimension to American Made.
In November of 2007 The Now Device joined with Springfield Symphony Orchestra to present American Made: the Art of Manufacturing, a multi-media celebration of American music and manufacturing, choreographed and performed live at the Kuss Auditorium in Springfield, Ohio.
The Now Device collected and shot video at over 25 local and regional manufacturing facilities and used this material to create a unique, live visual experience. Performances, including two dress rehearsals in front of full houses of local school children, were conducted by SSO Music Director Peter Stafford Wilson . The photos here are selections from working and dress rehearsals and from public performances on November 10 and 11, 2007.
