The Now Device partnered with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra in Muskegon to present another customized version of the multi-media experience: American Made: the Art of Manufacturing.

In July of 2008, the Westcott House Foundation and The Now Device combined forces to facilitate a two week, immersive, design studio in new media for students with an interest in arts and design and who wished to explore the potential of new and emerging media. The intent of this pilot project was to give young students cutting edge tools, place them in an amazing location and encourage them to produce expressive works of art. The studio introduced students to the use of contemporary audio and visual time-based media as a means of communicating ideas, expressing artistic themes and capturing and exploring emotional meaning.

The culmination of the studio was a public showing of student work on the evening of July 25th at the Westcott House. Visitors were able to watch video segments produced by the studio graduates and to experience a three-dimensional audio/visual installation in the house’s main stairwell.

The Now Device once again brought immersive live media to this expansive summer music festival. A two-screen stage set backed Singer/song writer Griffin House, local rising stars Callahan and indy rockers Small Town Sleeper. For the third night, TND provided a moody back drop for Steve Lippia and his big band as they paid tribute to Frank Sinatra. All three nights involved multiple live cameras and selected video media mixed live behind the acts.

Collaborative Stage and Media Design,Stage Setting Projections during a Dance Performance

The Now Device collaborated with Seattle-based choreographer Daniel Cruz and Seattle Theater Group for a night of hip hop dance performance: Club Cruz Control. The show featured Cruz Control Dance Company’s high-energy performance of Cruz’s innovative hip hop style that blends with jazz, African and modern. The Now Device Provided Scene-Defining video backdrops which helped establish distinctive looks and feels for a series of dance vignettes. Live mixing provided a coordinated, moving experience which reflected the motions and mood of the music and dance.
